Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Dusty. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Produce carvings from wood, stone and other materials. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Identify and document potential environmental and safety problems . Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Physically demanding. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Reliability.
